Lithium is the lightest metal. It is so light, it would float on water – if only it wouldn’t react so heavily with it. But Lithium can do much more: It works as a medicine against depression and can be found in many batteries.

 

Lithi the monster is a light-footed little fella, always playful and in a good mood. With its long thin legs it looks like a water strider.

Helium

Everybody knows helium from balloons. When inhaled it turns your voice into a squeaky high-pitched Mickey Mouse voice. It is completely harmless since the noble gas reacts with nothing and nobody. There is only verry little helium on earth but even the more in the sun.

 

Heli the monster is a dremy little dandelion clock. Oblivious to our every-day life it floats away and thinks about nothing...

Neon

When speaking of neon, everybody thinks of neonlight. But most of the „neon tubes“ contain mercury vapor. Neon glows red.

The name simply means „new“. So Neo the monster likes everything new and cool. He doesn’t like to get his hands dirty and prefers others to do the work.

Phosphor ist ein zwiespältiges Element. Es wurde seinerzeit im Urin entdeckt. Einerseits ist es lebenswichtig für Tiere und Pflanzen, zum Beispiel als Energieträger oder Teil der DNS. Reiner Phosphor dagegen ist sehr gefährlich, kann sich selbst entzünden und wird für Brandbomben verwendet.

Nitrogen

The air we breathe is 78% Nitrogen. As unimpressive as it seems, as important it is for life and many chemical reactions: amino acids – the building blocks of life need nitrogen. But it can also be found in explosives like dynamite. Nitro the monster is a quiet one that can’t be stirred up easily. But when someone gets on its nerves, it can literally explode.

Brome

There are only two liquid elements, brome is one of them. It can be found in the hypnotic drug Bromisoval, in flame resistants, tear gas and foto chemicals.

Bromus the Monster is a crabby deep sea fish. It has hypnotic powers and can put people to sleep just by yawning – if ontly its bad breath wouldn’t wake them up again.

Gallium

Gallium is a metal that melts at body temperature. There used to be teaspoons made of gallium as novelty items to scare granmas at tea time. Its name is derived from the word Gallus – latin for rooster, the symbol for France, since it was discovered there.

Gallius is an amphibious moster that dwells on land as well as in water. Don’t overheat his slow temper or he will boil over.

Oxygen

The Sweet sang in their song Love is like Oxygen "You get too much, you get too high. Not enough and you're gonna die." We need oxygen to live, but it can be destructive as well with fire, rust etc.. It is the most common element on earth. When cooled below -218°C oxygen becomes a blueish, magnetic liquid.

Oxy the monster is a moody hothead. He interferes everywhere and easily loses his temper. But when the going gets tough, it's good to have him nearby, because for his friends he would go through fire any time.
