Stibia
Stibia

Antimony was recognized in predynastic Egypt as an eye cosmetic (kohl), in modern times it was being used to harden lead for typing letters and more recently in semiconductor electronics. Alchemist called it „lupus metallorum“ – the wolf of metals. The abbreviation Sb is derived from the latin word Stibium.

Stibia is a cunning monster who likes to plot schemes and play others off against each other. Whoever gets bewitched by her charm, can fall for her easily.

Selenium

Selenia
Selen

Selenium is as well essential for life as well as toxic in higher doses. Its light sensitivity makes it useful for light meters and photocopiers. There are three forms of selenium: black, grey and red.

Selenia the monster has a light side and a dark side – just like the moon. You never know which side she’s on at the moment. She likes to remain mysterious.

Arsenic

Arsenius
Arsen

This metalloid is highly poisonous to almost all lifeforms, except for a few bacteria. The Poison of Kings and the King of Poisons has been known and used since ancient times, for example as a green pigment in wallpaper. Nowadays it’s found in semi-conductors and insecticides.

Arsenius the adulterator would love to be a bartender. Only his fellow monsters don’t trust his mixing skills.

Germanium

Germanius
Germanium

Germanium was one of the first elements to be predicted before discovery. It can be found as a semiconductor in electronic parts.

Germanius the monster is the radio DJ of Alpha Ray. He speaks with a horrible German accent and loves to play march music – to everyones distress.

Boron

Boro
Boro

At first sight boron seems like an unimpressive half metal. But actually it has quite a kick, after all it is the (second) hardest element after diamond. It can be found in rocket fuels, bullet-proof vests and in detergents. Boro the monster always keeps its cool. Some think he’s arrogant some call him „boring boron“. But as is generally known still waters run deep...

Silicon

Silizius
Silizius

The name of our first monster is Silizius. Silicon is the second most common element on earth (after oxygen). It is everywhere around us: in sand, in pebble stone, in concrete, glass, clay etc. It is necessary for computer chips and solar cells.

Silicius the Monster is computer-nerd of the Elemonsters. As a mentor of the group he knows a lot and likes to hold lectures – a real busybody.
